Overview of Abu Simbel Temples

Abu Simbel temple redefines the definitions of words like Glory and miraculous, constructed by Ramses II (1279-1213 BCE) during Egypt new kingdom at the height of its power to immortalize his legacy, honor his wife Nefertari and save guard his legacy from oblivion. Abu Simbel Temple Components

The temple enjoys wide media attention during the sun festival which takes place on the 22 of February & October of each year as the sun rays enter the temple the illuminate the shrine and lands on the faces of the deities. Straight to the northeast, just one hundred meters away is the temple of Nefertari dedicated to“Hathor” the deity of love, joy, and beauty which contains 10.5m (35 ft) two statues of her and six statues to her husband King Ramses II.
