The ancient Egyptian temples were the immortal homes of the deities of ancient Egypt. The temples were considered to be the horizon of each divine being or even as the location in which the deity came to existence at the early points of creation. The ancient Egyptian temple’s design was based on their explanation of the creation of the universe. The temples acted as their house of worship where a variety of rituals were performed and many offerings were presented to the gods by the public and the pharaoh. It also served as a method to document all the history of various kings and queens and more importantly the origin place of the religious dogmas and myths of their era. The most famous ancient Egyptian temples are located in the city of Luxor and Aswan on the banks of the Nile River.
