The capital center of the religious life of ancient Egypt was constructed from the start of the Middle Kingdom in 2000 BC till the end of the Ptolemaic era in 30 BC. Karnak Temple was the worship center for the Theban triad and the main showcase of the major elements of ancient architecture and decoration, as seen in the Great Hypostyle Hall, the precinct of Mut and Amun-Re, and the Avenue of Sphinxes that leads to Luxor Temple.

Luxor Temple by Night

The magical temple of Luxor was created in 1400 BC for very specific reasons, such as holding royal ceremonies, crowning the kings, which included Ramses the Great and Amenhotep III, and celebrating the annual Opet Festival, which sheds some light on the rejuvenation of kingship.

Hatshepsut Temple

Valley of the Kings
