The Great Sphinx:-

The Great Sphinx located at Giza Pyramids complex. The second great pyramid of Giza is the Pyramid of Khafre also known in history by the Greek as the Pyramid Of Chefren, the third pharaoh of the 4th Dynasty during the Old Kingdom Period of Ancient Egypt around 2540 B.C, he was Khufu’s second son. He built his pyramid only approximately 10 feet shorter than his father’s pyramid. The base of the pyramid is two hundred and fifteen and a half meters it was one hundred and forty-eight and a half meters high.

Where is Philae Temple?

Philae Temple was named “Apo” in ancient Egypt which means “Ivory”. It was built on a rocky island in the middle of River Nile 12Km south of Aswan. Mohamed Ali Mosque:-

Mohamed Ali Mosque or the Alabaster Mosque was designed by a Turkish man Yousif Boushnaq who came from Istanbul to build this great mosque for Mohammed Ali Pasha. The construction began in 1830 A.D. The work continued until the death of Mohammed Ali in 1849 and had to be finished by his successors. He was buried in a tomb that he had prepared for himself within the mosque in the southwestern corner, it’s  41×41 meters.

Memphis City:-

Memphis City was the capital of ancient Egypt , Memphis is located south of the Nile River delta, on the west bank of the river, near the Giza plateau, it had many names like Inbu-Hedj which means ‘White Wall’, in the old kingdom  it was known as Men-nefer (“the enduring and beautiful”) which was translated by the Greeks into ‘Memphis’.

History and Some Information About Luxor Temple

Luxor temple is one of the most beautiful and powerful temples in Egypt, it was known as Ipt-Rsyt or the southern shrine. It was built during the period of New Kingdom. It’s dedicated to god Amon, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu.

He built the Great Court, it’s seventy-four papyrus column and number of standing colossi of Ramses II, its 57m in length and 51m in width.

Where is Kom Ombo Temple Located?

Kom Ombo temple or temple of Sobek and Horus means “The Hill of Gold” in ancient Egypt. The temple is located about 48Km north of Aswan and 168Km south of Luxor, at the ancient city of Per Sobek.

Where is Karnak Temple Located?

Karnak temple is the largest temple in the world and the largest religious building ever made. It is located at “Thebes” Luxor city. karnak temple known as the temple of Amun, it was called Ipet-isu or “The most select of places” in middle kingdom, also know as Pr-Imn or “House of Amon” and it dates back to 2055 BC to around 100 AD, it built over 2000 years.

It built by King Seti who ruled from 1290 to 1279 B.C. The outer walls of northern wing describe Seti’s battle. The south wall inscribed with Ramesses II’s peace treaty with the Hittites.

A 120m by 77m Karnak Temple Secret Lake make it the largest of it’s kind. King Tuthmosis III(1473-1458 B.C)  dug it. Where is Edfu Temple Located?

Edfu temple is one of the most beautiful temples and the second largest temple in Egypt in addition to being one of the most-preserved temples in Egypt, It’s known to be“Temple of Horus”. It’s located on the west bank of the Nile in Edfu city between Luxor and Aswan. It was built on top of the battleground of Horus and Seth as ancient Egyptians believed. It’s dedicated to the god Hours of Behdet, Hathor and their son Hor-Sama-Tawy, which shows the influences of the Greek culture within the traditional Egyptian culture.

When was the Temple Built?

Temple of Horus begun construction in the period of the Ptolemy III on 23 of August 237 B.C and completed in a period of the Ptolemy XII in 57 B.C.

The Hypostyle Hall was built by Ptolemy VII (145-116 BC) it consists of two rows of 12 columns support its roof, there is also a statue of Horus in the shape of a falcon.

The holiest region of the temple is “Sanctuary of Horus”, it contains a black granite shrine, that was decorated by Nectanebo II, the wall shows Ptolemy IV worshipping Horus.

Where is Abu Simbel Temple Located and When it was Built?

Abu Simbel temple is the most famous temple of ancient Egypt, carved out of solid rock cliff into a mountainside. Located in Southern Egypt on the west bank of the Nile in a land of Nubia south of Aswan between the first and second cataracts of the Nile. It was built by King Ramses II, the construction started around 1244 B.C to around 1224 B.C. He chose this site because it was sacred to Hathor of Absek, goddess of motherhood, joy, and love.

What is the Temple Consists of?

Abu Simbel temple consists of two main temples, the great temple, and the small temple. The complex took twenty years to be finished, the scholars believe that Ramses built the two temple to celebrate his victory over the Hittites at the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 B.C to confirm this victory in the memory of the people and to intimidate the Nubian tribe, who threaten Egypt safety in the past.

The Great Temple

The largest temple or the Great temple or “The Temple of Ramses-Meryamun” which means Ramses beloved by god Amun. It dedicated to the God Re-Hor-Akhty, Amon, Ptah, It’s35m in length and 30m in height, it contains four tremendous statues to Ramses seated at the entrance, depicting Ramses II on his throne each one about 20m in tall, the sun only enter the temple in 2 days during the year on the 22nd of October and the 22nd of February, the first rays of the morning sunshine down the temple and illuminate the inner sanctuary and the statues of four gods.

The Small Temple

Dedicated to the goddess Hathor and his favorite wife Nefertari. It is 12m in height and 28m in length in the entrance, we find two statues for Queen Nefertari and four statues for the Pharaohs Ramses each of them is 10 meter in height, and six small statues for Ramses and Nefertari’s children. Ramses built it to show his love to his wife Nefertari.
